In July 1987 KLIF talk show host David Gold made an outrageous remark about the deaths of 18 undocumented immigrants inside a boxcar. The network was outraged as were others in the Hispanic community. The Network of Hispanic Communicators took immediate action and wrote a letter to station management demanding an apology.
