Spanish-Language TV News Stations Win Big at the Lone Star Emmy Awards

Telemundo 39 and Univision’s Noticias 23 won big at the recent 2013 Lone Star Emmy Awards ceremony in San Antonio.  Noticias 23 took home six Emmy awards including the ones for Best Team Coverage and Arts/Entertainment Program Special. Univision’s duoply station KSTR 49 won one award in the category for Outstanding Achievement in Community Service. Telemundo

Decrease of Latino journalists continue at U.S. Dailies

Wednesday, April 4, 2012 The number of Hispanic journalists working at U.S.dailies went from 1,889 to 1,650, a 0.47 percent decrease (4.54 to 4.07 percent), according to the most recent annual census reported by the American Society of Newspapers Editors (ASNE). The total loss of minority newsroom positions is at 5.7 percent, the organization stated.
