Norma Garcia is the first HCDFW Spanish Language At-Large Officer

Norma Garcia, anchor of Noticiero Telemundo 39 is the first Spanish Language At-Large officer on the board of the Hispanic Communicators. She is a multiple Emmy-award winning anchor/reporter with more than 20 years of experience.

Norma is the type of person who doesn’t hesitate leaving the anchor desk to cover news out in the field.  She has covered a variety of national and international news events including the  2oo4 Olympic Games in Athens, Hurricane Katrina, and the 2012 Mexican presidential elections. In March of 2013, she covered the Conclave of Pope Francis for the Telemundo station group.  Norma has also interviewed President Barack Obama at the White House two times.

Goals for Hispanic Communicators

Norma’s top goals for the organization are the following:

1. To serve as liaison between Hispanic Communicators and Spanish-speaking journalists in the Metroplex not only to increase membership among Spanish speakers, but to create a strong platform for career growth.

2. To promote mentorship of Spanish-speaking students interested in journalist, broadcasting and communication related fields.

3. To aid in the development of workshops and training sessions in Spanish based on first-hand knowledge of current demands of the industry.
