UT Austin – Content and Project Coordinator

Purpose
(1) To produce content to support the medical school’s communications goals and campaigns (50 percent). (2) To oversee procedures for coordination of communications projects initiated by departments, institutes and units of the Dell Medical School (50 percent).

Essential Functions
(1) Working closely with the content strategy and production team lead, identify opportunities for storytelling that are consistent with organizational goals and branding. Write and/or produce compelling content for external and internal audiences, including blog and social media posts, targeted email, newsletters, web copy, video, and feature stories. Edit content produced by internal clients and/or outside vendors to ensure accuracy, consistency of messaging and adherence to brand standards. (2) Working closely with the content strategy and production lead, coordinate the project intake process, managing contacts with clients and activating the team as appropriate. Administer project management tools, including intake forms, task managers and calendars, keeping project information up to date and accurate. Identify outside contractors and serve as a liaison to connect clients in the medical school’s departments, institutes and units with services to meet their communications needs. Coordinate review of completed drafts with interested partners and collaborators. Monitor progress of projects, working with communications staff, outside vendors and clients as necessary to ensure timely completion.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a major in communication, journalism, English, advertising, marketing or a related field. At least 1-3 years of experience in producing content professionally. Experience in the use of content management systems and HTML editors. Experience in using email marketing software. Knowledge of best practices in list management. Demonstrated creativity and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal, analytical, decision-making and project management skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to cope with ambiguity. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
Skill in using Adobe Creative Suite software, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere (or an equivalent video post-production software tool). Skill in photography and/or videography. Familiarity with project management software. Experience maintaining brand and style standards and guidelines. Experience with VIP (or another CRM) and/or Eloqua. Spanish-language fluency and/or proficiency. More than the required amount of experience or education, plus a background in a startup environment or one related to academia, health or public advocacy. Background in journalism and/or experience in newswriting.
