Job Description
The Dallas Morning News seeks a creative, aggressive journalist to be its Politics editor. The Politics editor, based in Dallas, directs all of our Texas and national political coverage, with oversight of our Austin and Washington, D.C., bureaus as well as a politics columnist/reporter and an assistant political editor.
Ability to conceive and execute daily news on digital platforms
Edit breaking news on deadline;
Direct reporters to shape enterprise for a variety of audiences
Top-notch story editing
Craft watchdog and investigative stories
Develop interactive elements and graphic and photo packages for stories
Promote work and engaging with readers and sources on social media and other mediums
Work across departments to plan for major event coverage such as conventions, elections and legislative sessions
Understand the strategy and tactics to grow digital audience, with an emphasis in engagement.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a professional journalist, including at least five years as an editor
