Dear DFW Communicators,
First of all I want to thank all of those who came out to our annual summer mixer last month. We had a great time connecting with other communicators. We also collected a number of backpacks for Methodist Children’s Home. It was a great success. We appreciate Time Warner Cable for their continued support.
Now it’s time to gear up for officer elections and the NAHJ regional conference. We are proposing making changes to our current bylaws. Some of the changes include: new board positions such as a social media director, Spanish language At-Large and Vice President for non-journalists. These changes do require a vote.
Please review the proposed changes on BY CLICKING HERE. Stay tuned for the announcement of a special meeting to vote on these changes in the weeks ahead. All current members are eligible to vote. If it passes then we will begin taking nominations for those positions.

We are also getting ready for the NAHJ Region 5 conference. It will be held December 6-7 in Dallas. We are in the process of brainstorming ideas for sessions and workshops. If there’s a topic you think we should cover, just let us know. Please make plans to attend.
One last thing, please consider attending the Excellence in Journalism Conference in Anaheim, CA August 24-26. They will have a lot of great workshops and sessions. For more details go to NAHJ.org.
