Meeting Minutes – Board Meeting – Logistics
November 22, 2015

Group held first meeting of the Hispanic Communicators DFW 2016-2017 executive board to discuss how the organization will run and create a planning platform.
These are the items we discussed. Please note with the quorum present- Karina Ramirez, Lourdes Vazquez, Samuel Belilty and Eden Soto Alva.
Board meetings will be held on the 2nd Saturday of every month at 11 a.m. with locations TBD during the following dates:
• Dec 12 at Lulu’s apartment
• Jan 9
• February 13
• March 12
• April 9
• May 14
• June 11
• August 13
• Sept 10
• Oct 8
• Nov 12
• Dec. 10
o Membership meetings
• Once per year we need to update members about our finances, possibly May
• Failure to attend three (3) board meetings will remove an officer from his or her position

Holiday Mixer
Dec. 5th or 12th, pending finding location
Location must be determined by COB of Monday, 11/23
Banquet for April
April 16
Possible speakers: Lourdes Garcia Navarro, NPR News or Maria Hinojosa with Latino USA
Create a scholarship in Elena Cortez’s name
Banquet cost is around 20k, last year it was 25k

Local Workshops
• Need to decide number workshop session
• February- Election coverage – Feb 20
Other workshops ideas: Ethics in Spanish, Weather Coverage, Photography workshop, Self-defense for journalists, Grammar Workshop in Spanish
Look into hosting a Region Conference 5. Wish to continue partnership with Amica and AT&T.
Possible Partnerships with local universities and North Texas PIO
