Well the time has come to say adios. Hard to believe that after three years as President of Hispanic Communicators DFW, it’s time for me to step aside and hand over the responsibilities to someone else. That person is Karina Ramirez. She has been part of the board for the past three years as well and I am confident in her leadership abilities and her new team.
Eden Soto-Alva is the new VP Journalism. Olmar Vanegas is VP General. Samuel Bililty is the new Spanish Language at Large officer. Raul Solis remains the Social Media Manager and Lourdes Vazquez is the Treasurer/Secretary. Congratulations to the newly elected board. You are in good hands. They are already planning and working some exciting projects.
You may have noticed a new “look” to our website and social media pages. This is our new logo! We had more than 45 contestants submit entries. The HCDFW board and leadership team decided this as the winning logo.
Congratulations to Karen Falla, the designer of the logo. Notice the “H and CO” in the “microphone”. She says the the colors in the mic represent the colors of the Latin American flags as well as the colorful personalities of us Latinos! Congratulations to Karen. She gets $1,000 for her winning logo.
Special thanks to ATT and #ATTLatino for their continued support of all of our workshops, mixers and other events.A big thank you also to Amica Insurance. They sponsored our Fall Fiesta this past weekend. We had a great time. Click on the picture for a look at all the Photo Booth pictures from the fun night.
I may be stepping aside but I won’t be going anywhere. I’ll still be helping the group out. I am honored and proud to have been part of this great team. I want to thank board members, Cynthia Lyons Garcia, Norma Garcia, Irene Zucker, Karina Ramirez, Teevee Aguirre, Raul Solis as well as volunteers Rebecca Aguilar, Magda Salazar, Eva-Marie Ayala, Jay Torres, Kenny Molestina and Michael Vega for helping to make HCDFW the BIGGEST and BEST NAHJ chapters in the country!
