Thanks to our sponsors, volunteers and everyone else who pitched in where they could the Hispanic Communicators- DFW was able to award $15,000 to six deserving students. Our recipients represent the best in the future of newspapers, broadcast and marketing. Congratulations to these students! Here they are from left to right:
Daniel Litwin is a senior at McKinney Boyd High School where he has served as an anchor for the school’s broadcast the Bronco News Network. He plans to attend the University of Missouri to study broadcast journalism.
Jimena Fraga is a junior at the UT-Arlington. She works both behind the camera as technical director and in front as a reporter for the school’s Spanish broadcast News En Español.
Valerie Gonazlez is a senior at Caddo Mills High School where she’s produced several videos including those that addressing safety in teen driving and bullying. She plans to attend TCU in August and wants to be a film editor.
Cristina De Leon is a student at UT-Arlington where she is a reporter for the Spanish broadcast News En Español. She is also president of the school’s NAHJ chapter. This is her second scholarship from the Hispanic Communicators-DFW.
Jazmin Vazquez is a communications student at Southern Methodist University where she’s worked on marketing and public relations projects. She will travel to London this summer for an internship to research women’s differing views of beauty and then spend her fall semester at in Denmark.
Mario Montalvo is a student at Texas Christian University. He writes and produces videos for student-run publications including The TCU Daily Skiff newspaper and TCU360 web site. This is his second scholarship from the Hispanic Communicators-DFW.
