I want to first of all thank you for your continued support and commitment to Hispanic Communicators DFW. We have some very exciting things planned in the months ahead. First of all, today we launch our new website. It’s been re-designed to make it more user friendly. One of the features is our weekly “Tuesday Trivia” question. Find out stuff about some of our members you may not have known.
Also, this Thursday July 18th we are having our annual Media Mixer sponsored by Time Warner Cable. It will be at the old Planet Hollywood in the West End. Come by to say hi, mingle and network. You can also renew your membership if you haven’t done so. We’ll have lots of freebies, including a chance for you to win a Nook HD, an Ipod Nano, gift cards and even a free membership. Make sure you RSVP. We are also collecting school backpacks to benefit needy kids from the Methodist Children’s Home. (You’ll get an extra raffle ticket for those great prizes.)

We are also busy revising our bylaws. Some of the proposed changes include new board positions. Be on the lookout for those changes in the weeks ahead and please consider running for a spot on our board. Nominations will be held mid August through mid September and the elections to be held in mid September.

Finally this December, HCDFW is excited to host the NAHJ Region 5 Conference. We are in the process of gathering ideas for workshops and sessions, in both English and Spanish. If you have suggestions, please let us know. And stay tuned for the announcement of our special keynote speaker.
