About HCDFW
Hispanic Communicators DFW or HCDFW is an organization of journalists, public relations, marketing, advertising professionals, educators, students and others committed to the fields of communication. We believe in furthering the visibility and role of Latinos within these fields.
Our group was founded on November 19, 1981 as the Network of Hispanic Communicators. Since then we’ve been influential in the development of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) and other communications organizations. On May 28, 2008, HCDFW became an affiliate of NAHJ and is also called the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter of the NAHJ.
We are a 501 c(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization. Some of our members are full-time employees of area newspapers, television stations, advertising firms, public relations agencies and universities. Others are independent professionals or students looking to start their careers.
Our goals:
- Provide mutual support for one another
- Encourage Latinos to enter the communication professions
- Promote the fair portrayal of Latinos in the media
Build a broader understanding of the unique interests and concerns of Latinos communicators
